Summer in GISD at a Glance

Summer break in Georgetown ISD means the fun amps up and the learning doesn’t stop! Students and staff across Georgetown took part in camps, conferences, professional learning and more over the break. Here’s a look at a few highlights…

Five Richarte HS students continued their learning over the summer and graduated at their own pace. On August 15th, a ceremony was held to celebrate these graduates! The two students pictured are Miles Tolin and Xochil Mondragon-Hurtado.

Elementary students practiced music skills and channeled their creativity at the Purl ES Strings Camp.

An Advance CyberPatriot Camp supported by Navy JROTC Liberty Battalion was offered to secondary students, where they learned cybersecurity principles, the importance of cyber safety and how to protect their personal devices and information from outside threats.

GISD Pre-K and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teachers attended a Barbie-themed training to get ready for the new school year. Shoutout to Jennifer Krawczyk, the new Coordinator for Early Childhood Education for leading the training!

First-year students at Tippit MS attended Titan Camp for a day of scavenger hunts, team building activities and a student panel. What a way to start the new year!

Special Education staff members presented on Student Support Plans at a Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) Conference. Pictured: SPED Director Dana Johnson, ECSE Coordinator Candice Mills, and Transition Coordinator Abbey Kelly.

On August 2nd, staff members gathered at GHS for New Hire Orientation. Wishing all new staff a wonderful first year!
