Georgetown ISD Announces Greg Vidal as New Cooper Elementary School Principal

The Georgetown Independent School District has named Greg Vidal as the new Cooper Elementary School Principal.

Vidal has served as assistant principal at Carver Elementary since 2021, where he is responsible for assisting the campus principal in the overall administration of the campus and coordinating student activities and services. Vidal oversees the dual-language and intervention programs at Carver Elementary and evaluates certified staff according to the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System, among other responsibilities.

Vidal enters this new role with 18 years of public education experience, previously serving in roles such as a classroom teacher, an Intervention/Dyslexia Specialist, and a District Coordinator of 504 & Dyslexia. Vidal has also served as a Business Administrator for a nonprofit organization.

Vidal holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Multidisciplinary Education from McMurry University, where he minored in English and Spanish. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and is anticipated to complete it in May of 2025.

Greg and his wife have three children who will be joining the Cooper family this fall.

“My wife, children and I are elated to join the Cooper family. As I enter this next chapter of school leadership, I look forward to working with the talented and amazing Cooper staff to ensure every student is empowered to lead, grow, and serve our community,” Vidal said. “I know we will continue to positively impact student lives as we work toward equipping all Cooper Cougars to be our future leaders.”

In his new role, Vidal will be responsible for leading, facilitating and supporting Cooper’s campus transformation into a learning organization aligned to GISD beliefs, while working with District leaders to advance work in the priority areas identified in the District strategic direction, among other duties.
