Proposition B in the amount of $20,330,000 includes technology to support innovative learning as well as improve the infrastructure to support connectivity.

Proposition C in the amount of $27,850,000 would include funds to construct a new performing arts facility at East View High School, provide for continued maintenance of the Klett Performing Arts Center at Georgetown High School and replace concert uniforms and attire.

Proposition D in the amount of $3,860,000 would include funds to renovate the locker and weight room facilities at East View High School to accommodate for program growth and repair the track at Georgetown High School.

The board’s decision follows a recommendation from the Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) that studied current facilities and facility assessments, demographic reports and enrollment projections, financial information, educational programs, and immediate and future needs of the district.

“I’m thankful to the community members who served on our CAC and brought this recommendation forward to prepare our families for the future,” Superintendent Devin Padavil said. “It reflects the voice of our community.”

Enrollment Growth

In the last five years, Georgetown ISD has grown by nearly 14%, and according to a recent demographic study, the district is anticipated to grow by another 6,000 students by the year 2033. Three of the district’s current elementary schools, two of the current middle schools and East View High School are all projected to be at or near capacity by the 2027-2028 school year. New facilities in the fastest growing areas of the district will help alleviate crowding at these campuses and provide engaging spaces for students to learn.

Tax Rate Impact

The district anticipates that the tax rate impact on property owners could range from zero cents to a maximum 1 cent per $100 valuation, or $2.77 monthly for the average home in Georgetown ISD. Tax rates in the district have declined by more than 36 cents over the last few years:

  • $1.40 in 2018

  • $1.33 in 2019

  • $1.30 in 2020

  • $1.23 in 2021

  • $1.21 in 2022

  • $1.04 in 2023

Citizens can learn more about the propositions during community presentations this spring. The district will update its calendar as presentations are scheduled, and more information can be found at www.georgetownisdbond.org

Georgetown ISD residents will have the opportunity to vote on the bond referendum during Early Voting, April 22-30, and on Election Day, Saturday, May 4. The last day to register to vote in the May election is April 4.
