GHS Football Teams Up with First Baptist Church - Georgetown to Help Families this Holiday Season
For the third year in a row, First Baptist Church — Georgetown (FBG) has been serving families in GISD through their Merry Christmas with Love event, a mission project designed to help support local families with gifts and new shoes for their children during the holiday season.
This year, the football team from Georgetown High School joined the project, collecting gifts and toys for the program.
“Perhaps the holiday season will be a little brighter for families this year,” said Head Football Coach Chuck Griffin. “In GISD, we believe in empowering every learner to lead, grow and serve. It was an honor for our team to serve the community and support our neighbors through this outreach project.”
The team helped provide more than 600 pairs of shoes and 2,000 presents for children through the program.
“Nearly 700 families were served through the project this year,” said Michael Sawyer, Mobilization Pastor at FBG. “We are always honored to partner with GISD as we seek to share the love of Christ at Christmas. It was a wonderful experience as we sought to bring joy to each and every family. Anytime the district experiences need, we want to be one of the first calls that is made to render assistance.”
The giving spirit is alive in Georgetown, Texas — perhaps always — and especially during the holiday season. Thank you to all those who give selflessly to help our GISD families!
