GISD Receives 2024 District of Distinction Award
Georgetown ISD has been recognized as a District of Distinction (DoD) by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) for the fifth year in a row. The award recognizes Fine Arts programs across Texas that are leading the way in the visual arts by providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and build learning opportunities that connect learners to their community and beyond.
Out of the more than 1,200 districts and learning institutions eligible to apply, 94 districts met the high standards and received the 2024 DoD award. Recipients of the 2024 DoD are among the top 5.5% of Visual Art programs in the state.
“Our visual art teachers continue to inspire students with creative and engaging experiences and prioritize community connections through our K-12 Georgetown Public Library Art Show, our City of Georgetown Mural Project, and countless campus art events,” GISD Fine Arts Director Carol Watson said. “I’m proud of their relentless efforts to provide exceptional learning opportunities for the students of Georgetown.”
GISD is one of 13 programs across Texas to receive the DoD award for the fifth year in a row.
