GISD Receives 2023 District of Distinction Award

Georgetown ISD has been recognized as a District of Distinction (DoD) by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) for the fourth year in a row. The award recognizes Fine Arts programs across Texas that are leading the way in the visual arts by showcasing an outstanding commitment to promoting arts across their communities and advocating for creative learning opportunities for all students.

Out of the more than 1,200 districts and learning institutions eligible to apply, 69 districts met the high standards and received the award. Recipients of the 2023 DoD are among the top 5.5% of Visual Art programs in the state.

“It is an honor to have the work of our teachers and students recognized with our District of Distinction award for the fourth time,” Carol Watson, GISD Director of Fine Arts said. “I'm proud of our teachers' work to create engaging experiences and artful memories for our students in GISD.”

GISD is one of 13 programs across Texas to receive the DoD award for the fourth year in a row.
