Success in Bloom: More than 200 Students test for Floral Design Certification

January 30-31, Georgetown High School (GHS) hosted more than 200 high school students for a Texas State Florists' Association (TSFA) Floral Design Certification Test. Each student is given a bundle of flowers and fresh materials to complete a floral arrangement with a symmetrical design and a boutonniere in one hour.

“We’ve done a lot of preparation for the test, so I feel pretty good about what I accomplished today,” Catelyn Crow, junior at GHS said. “This is my first year in floral design, and I love it. I mean, who wouldn’t love playing with flowers?”

The certification allows students to apply for jobs in the floral industry and make connections with retail florists.

Students receive their results 1-2 weeks after the testing date.
