From the Georgetown Rotary Club: Field of Honor
The Rotary Club of Georgetown, in cooperation with the City of Georgetown and Georgetown ISD, is hosting its seventh annual Field of Honor® from Nov. 4-12 in the field behind the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning, 507 E. University Ave. This location is for this year only, and the event will return to San Gabriel Park in 2024.
The event features a field of up to 1,400 American flags that will be displayed Nov. 4-12, each purchased to honor a past or present veteran, active or reserve-duty military, or first responder, including K-9 and equestrian heroes. An opening ceremony is set for 1:30pm on Sunday, Nov. 5 at the Hammerlun Center featuring keynote speakers.
A Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 11am on Nov. 10, featuring keynote speaker retired General Jim Huggins. Flag sales and repost tent will be open from 9am to 6pm Nov. 4-10, 9am to 5pm Nov. 11 and 9am - 3pm Nov. 12.
Proceeds from flag sales benefit veteran and first-responder organizations. Flag’s that have been purchased can be picked up from noon to 5 pm Nov. 11 and 9am. to 3pm Nov. 12.
