Anonymous Donor Pays off Meal Balances for Students at Benold Middle and Village Elementary schools

Bills can add up for any family, and for some families, that includes accounts that fund student meals. However, generous donors from the community are coming forward to help lessen the burden so families can put their funds toward other things.

Just this week, a parent, who wants to remain anonymous, inquired about helping to pay off the balances at two campuses where her own students attended school: Village Elementary and Benold Middle School.

"We adopt a family each year during the holidays," said the donor, "And this year, we decided to put our funds toward helping more families in our community."

Families at both campuses who had outstanding balances will be notified by the district's food service staff.

"It's not unusual for us to see an increase in meal balance deficits this time of year," said Kirby Campbell, executive director for support services. "We are incredibly grateful for this gift and know it is helping many families at these two campuses."
