Georgetown High School Ranks Eighth in the UIL 5A Lone Star Cup

Every year, the UIL (University Interscholastic League) Lone Star Cup honors the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas based on team performance in district and state championships. The Lone Star Cup recognizes high schools in divisions 1A-6A, based on a number of UIL academic, athletic and music championships.

For the 2021-22 school year, Georgetown High School ranked eighth on the list of 5A schools, landing a spot in the top 25.

“This recognition speaks to the commitment it takes for students to excel both in and out of the classroom,” GISD athletic director Jason Dean said.  “Our coaches and teachers in GISD do a great job of encouraging our students to participate in as many things as they can while in high school.”

This eighth place ranking comes after a successful year in GISD at both the district and state level, including a state championship win for GHS Eagles baseball
