All Things Back to School
We are so excited to have our students back on campus on August 18. Here are a few things to help you prepare for the first day of the new school year:
Student enrollment for new AND returning students is open.
Visit www.georgetownisd.org/enrollatGISD to enroll or update your enrollment information.
Help
School supply lists for elementary and middle schools are posted on our website.
Need school supplies? We’ve got you covered. Talk to your campus counselor, and they will get you set up with what you need.
Campus back to school events for things like schedule pick-up, meet the teacher, orientations and camps, are posted on our website.
Wondering what school hours look like? You’ll find them online at www.georgetownisd.org/schoolhours for all campuses.
Need to catch a ride? Students eligible for bus transportation will receive their bus route and schedule information early next week. You can learn more about transportation, who is eligible and what our protocols are for releasing pre-K students at the end of the day on our website at https://www.georgetownisd.org/Page/338.
Safety and Security are always top priority. Visit our safety website to learn what our teams are doing to ensure our facilities are safe. There, you can also “meet” our team of school resource officers ,learn about our emergency response procedures and more.
The GISD Health and Wellness Center can help your student get ready for back to school with required immunizations, physicals, and more. This is provided as service for all staff, students and their immediate families in GISD to access quick healthcare at affordable rates.
You can expedite service by pre-registering you or your child’s information. Forms are available on our website and at the clinic site.
Learn more or schedule an appointment at www.georgetownisd.org/healthcenter.
2022-23 Meal Prices
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress authorized spending that allowed schools to serve free meals for all students. Those funds are not authorized to continue for the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, Georgetown ISD must return to charging for school meals and offering free and reduced-priced meals based on student eligibility.
Find 2022-23 meal prices online and fill out the form for free or reduced lunch.
Looking to serve in GISD? Register to Volunteer
In Georgetown ISD, we know that community engagement enhances student experiences and are excited to welcome back volunteers, mentors and partners to serve in our school during the coming year.
Whether you're new to GISD or a returning volunteer, we encourage you to sign up (or update your profile) and consider opportunities that align with your areas of interest and expertise. The more information you share, the better we can pair you with meaningful opportunities.

Opportunities in GISD School Health Advisory CouncilThe Georgetown ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) currently has opportunities for interested GISD parents and community members.
The GISD SHAC assists the school district by strengthening the connection between health and learning. At the end of each school year, the SHAC has the opportunity to advise the board on health topics related to student physical/medical health, nutrition, and mental health. When needed, the SHAC also advises the board on curriculum on specific topics involving student well-being.
Please visit our website for more information and the opportunity to apply.
From Our Community Partners:
From the City of Georgetown: Let the City of Georgetown know what you think of the proposed Fiscal Year 2023 City budget
The $722 million City of Georgetown budget affects every resident in our City. How we allocate your taxpayer dollars determines the level of service you get in return for City functions, like providing electricity, drinking water, drivable streets, and clean parks. Because we ask you, our residents, to trust us with your hard-earned income, we must make sure we’re spending your money the way you want it to be spent.
Now through Aug. 21, visit https://finance.georgetown.org to learn more about the proposed budget and the budget adoption process and to provide your perspective through an online comment box.
You also can attend any of the public hearings through the budget adoption, the last of which currently is set for Sept. 13.
IMPORTANT BUDGET DATES:
Aug. 21: Comments on draft budget close (see form online)
Aug. 23: Public hearings and first reading of both the tax rate and the budget
Sept. 13: Second reading and final adoption of the tax rate and budget
Oct. 1: New water/wastewater rates are in effect
From the City of Georgetown: Painted Rain Barrel Project coming in October
Through Aug. 31, 2022, the City of Georgetown’s Water Conservation Team invites artist proposals for the Painted Rain Barrel Project. These rain barrels will be placed throughout downtown Georgetown during the October arts events, then auctioned off to community members. All proceeds will be donated to conservation education efforts in local schools.
Artists will receive 40 percent of the total profits collected from the rain barrel auction. A $125 minimum bid will be placed on all barrels.
