GISD CTE Director Bretton Schulz Presented with Chamber of Commerce Cornerstone Award

Bretton with wife and GISD elementary teacher, Haley Schulz

On Thursday, June 2, The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce presented Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director Bretton Schulz with the Cornerstone Award for education. This award recognizes Schulz’s dedication to CTE programs, which provide students with opportunities to learn, grow and connect in a community that is experiencing great advancements in multiple expanding career fields. As a member of the Workforce Development Alliance with the Chamber, Schulz utilizes data on workforce demands to inform the district’s course offerings and align fields of study with the job market.

Apart from his work with CTE, Schulz plays critical roles in the district’s high school job fairs, facilitates a teacher externship program, maintains a high school job board to connect students with local employers, and so much more.

Each year, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce recognizes organizations and/or individuals who excel in each one of the four community cornerstones: economic development, education, healthcare and public safety. The work that Schulz does in education behind the scenes plays a key role in setting students up for success in the workforce when they leave GISD.
