Kiwanis Group of Sun City Brings Storytime to GISD Elementary Campuses

The Kiwanis Club, a service organization of Sun City that aims to serve children in need of aid in the Williamson County area, provides a literacy program every semester to elementary campuses in GISD. Members of Kiwanis visit campuses once a semester and do classroom storytimes with students in PreK - 2nd grade.

After a book is read during storytime, Kiwanis gifts physical copies of that book to students so that they each have one of their own to take home.

“The Kiwanis volunteers have a huge impact on our students that goes beyond the important aspect of nurturing a love of reading,” Rebecca Lambert, Village Principal said. “It is, at its most basic level, a touchpoint with a caring adult from our community, and an open door to their future as an involved citizen who understands the gift of public education.”
