From Our Community Partners:

From the GISD Education Foundation: Local Businesses Invited to Participate in GISD Education Foundation Business Fair on Aug. 9

The GISD Business Fair, hosted by the GISD Education Foundation, returns on August 9.  Local businesses can showcase products and services to the district's nearly 2,000 employees at the event. Registration fees go back to the Ed Foundation to directly support programming including new teacher gift cards to help teachers buy needed supplies. For more details and to register, visit https://bit.ly/2022GISDBizFair.

From the City of Georgetown: Fireworks Prohibited in Georgetown

We want you to have a fun and entertaining Fourth of July, but we also want you to keep our city safe. The Georgetown Police Department and Georgetown Fire Department warn our residents that using fireworks is prohibited in the City of Georgetown and within 5,000 feet outside the city limits.

Fireworks are extremely dangerous and annually are responsible for injury and fire damage. Due to drought conditions, Williamson County has issued a burn ban. Please do not place yourself at risk of fire, injury, or being fined. Leave it to the professionals and come out to the 39th annual Sertoma Family Club July 4th Celebration in San Gabriel Park on Monday the 4th.

Find safety tips and more information at https://fire.georgetown.org/fireworks-safety/.

From the City of Georgetown: Watering Restricted to Once Weekly

Due to sustained high water use nearing system treatment capacity, the City of Georgetown is enacting Stage 2 of the Drought Contingency Plan effective as of June 28, 2022. Watering with an irrigation system or hose-end sprinkler will be restricted to one day per week.

The City of Georgetown is providing a one-week allowance for water customers to adjust their irrigation systems to comply with this schedule before issuing citations. After the one-week grace period, violations of the irrigation schedule may result in administrative charges on customer bills. The one-day per week irrigation schedule is based on the last digit of the street address.

Find more information on rebates, programming your controller how-to videos, and information on our water system at http://gus.georgetown.org/water/

From the City of Georgetown: 2022 Sunset Movie Series returns this summer

The City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back its Sunset Movie Series this summer.

Remaining show times are as follows:

Friday, July 15: “Hook” (PG)

Friday, August 12: “Encanto” (PG)

The screenings will take place in the Legacy Pavilion in San Gabriel Park at sunset, about 8:30 pm.

This is a free community event. Moviegoers are welcome to bring blankets, chairs, and picnics.

Come early for free popcorn, to explore the park, and to visit with vendors.
