Three Students Named Outstanding Performers at State Solo-Ensemble Contest

Rising Georgetown High School (GHS) senior Kamrin Gordon and 2024 GHS graduates Elizabeth McCallum and Brayden Boff have earned the Outstanding Performer Award at the 2024 Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest for solos in Voice, Harp and Timpani, respectively.

Designated by each solo judge, the award recognizes soloists who demonstrate superior musicianship in the exacting competition of the state contest.

“Making the State Solo and Ensemble Contest is a tremendous achievement in and of itself, but being selected as an Outstanding Performer is truly elite,” GHS Band Director Justin Smith said.

Out of the thousands of students who compete at the state contest, less than one percent are honored with the Outstanding Performer Award.

In the fall, McCallum will attend Montana State University to study Microbiology and minor in Music, with an emphasis on harp performance. Boff will attend Texas A&M, and Gordon will return to the GHS choir program for his senior year.
