Board Adopts New Bell Schedule for 2024-2025

The Board of Trustees approved a new bell schedule during the May board meeting. After collecting feedback from parents and community members, Option 1 was selected. The new bell schedule (start and end times) for the 2024-2025 school year is:

HS 8:40 am - 4:00 pm
MS 9:00 am - 4:20 pm
ES 7:40 am - 3:00 pm

About the process:

• More than 3,100 people responded to a feedback survey.

• Campus leaders were consulted and the PTA Council also provided feedback.

• Neighboring school districts were consulted to gain insights on how they have adapted schedules to meet their own growing demands.

• The board reviewed options at the April workshop and received updates throughout the process.

This change comes as GISD experiences record growth. With more students to serve and campuses spread out across 184 square miles, the district must look at efficiencies to provide transportation service throughout the district.
